Wednesday, 06 September, 1pm: the first remediation order decision

Welcome back to the Law and Lease webinar series.

August didn’t quite turn out to be the wholesale month off that I had planned, but it felt more like holiday than work, and that in itself was good.

We start the autumn season with our first remediation order decision from the First-tier Tribunal.

It is quite a work: the decision runs to 41 pages, accompanied by an order, itself of several pages. The Tribunal clearly was at pains to ensure that its decision was as thorough as it could be, and that it placed the power to make a remediation order in the context of the building safety legislation.

Given the above, I would like to spend an hour really having a good long look at:

• the Tribunal’s exposition of the law;
• the facts giving rise to the application;
• the parties’ preparations for the hearing;
• the role of the expert, and
• how the Tribunal applied the facts to the law.

For the second half of 2023, the Law & Lease social responsibility project is donating £10 of the per person cost to Julian House, a charity that works in the southwest, supporting vulnerable and at-risk individuals, amongst whom are adults and young people experiencing homelessness, escaping domestic abuse, adults with learning difficulties and people who need support after leaving prison.
