2018 advent calendar
It’s the fourth year of the Law and Lease advent calendar!
2018 has been the year of the consultation. We’ve had the Law Commission’s consultation on enfranchisement and, as of 10 December, commonhold, with the Right to Manage to come in the New Year. We’ve had a government consultation on banning leasehold houses and question marks over ground rents. We still have the regulation of property agents to go, and there is now a call for evidence about a Housing Court. And that is without the Housing Communities and Local Government Committee’s inquiry into the progress made on leasehold reform.
With all of the above in mind, the aim of the advent calendar is to revisit at least some of the service charge law and events that have shaped the past year. It works in the same way as it always has done: on each day in December leading up to 24th, by clicking on the relevant number, you will open a door to (what I hope will be) a pearl of service charge-related wisdom.
